Aviaries

BirdThe construction of six aviaries at ESW has been led by Drs. Liana Zanette and Michael Clinchy. These very large outdoor aviaries simulate a semi-natural setting, which allows wild birds to breed and experience natural stimuli, in a manner that cannot be reproduced in the laboratory, where neurological development may be impaired due to deficient stimuli. The aviaries are particularly valuable for studies of predator-prey interactions.
