Vision Presentation: Dr. Jimmy Dikeakos
Dr. Jimmy Dikeakos, Professor and Graduate Chair in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at Western University, will present his vision for the department as part of the Chair selection process.
Dr. Dikeakos is a Past-President of the Canadian Society for Virology and an accomplished researcher in the fields of HIV pathogenesis and viral membrane trafficking. He earned his PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Montreal and completed postdoctoral training at the Vollum Institute in Portland. Since joining Western in 2012, his laboratory has focused on HIV-1 accessory proteins Nef and Vpu, and more recently expanded to study SARS-CoV-2 and highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI).
Recognized for his contributions to research and education, Dr. Dikeakos has received the Dean’s Award of Excellence and holds the designation of Faculty Scholar at Western University.
