Event Summary
In this candid discussion with Simu Liu, Simu will talk about his experiences (as laid out in his book We Were Dreamers) with mental health, cultural expectations, and resilience from his unique lens as a Chinese-Canadian man from an immigrant family, and whose experiences range from unconventional family dynamics, self-doubt while working in industry, and finding success on a global scale as an actor in an industry that has burgeoning positive Asian representation.

This event is part of a campus-wide health and identity campaign, aligned with World Mental Health Day (October 10) and the same day as the World Mental Health Day Fair (October 8) from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. in Mustang Lounge. Together, we’ll explore how identity, culture, and lived experiences shape the way we navigate challenges—and how rewriting our own stories is possible.

Show up. Speak out. Support one another.
