85th Anniversary of Cronyn Observatory

Join us to celebrate the 85th Anniversary of Cronyn Observatory!

On October 25, 1940, this observatory and its 25-centimeter refractor telescope were dedicated on Western's campus. For 85 years, it's been a gathering place where curious minds share a passion for space and astronomy, bringing the London community closer to the cosmos.

On Saturday, October 25, 2025, join us to celebrate this remarkable history. Jan Cami (Director) will share how they uncovered forgotten pieces of the Observatory's past and what led to the 75th anniversary celebration in 2015. Peter Jedicke (Honorary President, RASC London Centre) will take us back to the Observatory's early years and founding story.

Talks: 8 - 9 p.m. Open until 10 p.m. to explore historical artifacts and participate in astronomy demos. Telescopes ready for observing if skies are clear.

FREE admission, no registration required!
