Orange Shirt Flag Raising Ceremony
Join Western University for the annual Orange Shirt Flag Raising Ceremony in recognition of Truth and Reconciliation.
This ceremony is open to everyone and serves as a meaningful opportunity to honour survivors of residential schools and commit to reconciliation on campus.
This meaningful gathering will feature remarks from:
- Mary Lou Smoke, Elder-in-Residence (Wampum Learning Lodge)
- Dr. Florentine Strzelczyk, Provost & Vice-President (Academic)
- Dr. Christy R. Bressette, Vice-Provost & Associate Vice-President (Indigenous Initiatives)
- Jason Henry, Community Member (Kettle & Stony Point First Nation)
- Grace Vickers & Niibin Pitawanakwat, Co-Presidents (Indigenous Students' Association
The Medicine Lodge Youth Drum will perform throughout the ceremony.
