What You Can Report

Contact WSCS about non-emergency concerns such as:

  • Suspicious activity or behaviour
  • Theft, property damage, or another incident that has already occurred
  • Harassment, threats, or unwanted behaviour
  • A safety concern involving a Western building, pathway, parking area, or campus space
  • A concern involving a Western student, employee, visitor, or contractor
  • Information that may assist with an existing WSCS investigation

You do not need to know whether an offence has occurred before contacting WSCS. We can help determine the appropriate next step.

What Information to Provide

When contacting WSCS, provide as much of the following information as you can:

  • Your location and the location of the concern
  • What happened or what you observed
  • When it happened
  • Descriptions of any people, vehicles, or property involved
  • Whether anyone is injured, at risk, or needs immediate assistance
  • Any photos, messages, video, or other information that may help

Do not put yourself at risk to collect information. Share only what you can safely observe or preserve.

What Happens After You Report

WSCS will review the information you provide and determine the most appropriate response. Depending on the situation, this may include:

  • Dispatching a Special Constable
  • Taking an occurrence report
  • Beginning or continuing an investigation
  • Referring the matter to another Western service
  • Coordinating with London Police Service or another emergency service
  • Providing information about available support or next steps

The response will depend on the information available, the level of risk, and the circumstances of the concern.

You Can Ask for Guidance

You do not need to know exactly which service should handle your concern before contacting WSCS. We can help identify the appropriate next step and connect you with the right Western or community resource.
