When to Call 911

Call 911 when there is an immediate threat to life, safety, or property, including:

  • A crime in progress
  • Violence, threats, or a weapon
  • A fire, explosion, or visible smoke
  • A serious injury or urgent medical emergency
  • A person whose life may be in immediate danger
  • Any situation requiring an immediate police, fire, or paramedic response

When it is safe to do so, tell the dispatcher your location, what is happening, and any information that may help emergency responders.

When to Call WSCS

Call Western Special Constable Service at 519-661-3300 for non-emergency situations, including:

  • Suspicious activity or behaviour
  • A non-urgent crime or incident that has already occurred
  • A safety concern that does not require an immediate emergency response
  • Assistance from a special constable
  • Lost property, building access, or other WSCS service enquiries
  • Help determining the appropriate Western or community service

What Happens When You Call

The person answering will ask for information such as:

  • Your location
  • What is happening
  • Whether anyone is injured or in immediate danger
  • A description of any person, vehicle, or activity involved
  • How you can be contacted if more information is needed

Stay on the line, answer questions as clearly as you can, and follow any instructions provided.
