Departmental Seminars  speaker These departmental seminars explore all aspects of biology featuring invited speakers from other institutions to faculty and post-doctoral students from within the department.


Friday PhilosophicalsFriPhil The Ecology and Evolution group present these graduate seminars to allow graduate students and others to present their research in a friendly, informal environment. Attendance is required of graduate students in the E&E stream, and guests are welcome!


Thursday Physiologicals ThursPhys These graduate seminars, run by the Physiology and Biochemistry group, communicates proposed research or recent results to the P&B graduate group. Participation is compulsory for these students, and all  department members are welcome as guests.


Cell and Molecular Biology Graduate Seminar Series  CandMB Graduate students from the C&M group use these seminars to present their proposed research or recent findings in a setting akin to thesis assessment, defence presentations, and conference platform presentations.


Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada Seminars AAFC In these seminars, C&M graduate students working at the AAFC present their proposed research or recent findings in a setting akin to thesis assessment, defence presentations, and conference platform presentations.


Biology Graduate Thesis Talks test These talks fulfill examination requirements for MSc and PhD candidates. The talks are open to members of the department and the public are welcome as guests.



Biology Graduate Research Forum  Butterfly Biology graduate students  organize the BGRF to provide a forum for graduate students and post-doctoral fellows to showcase their research in biology through poster and selected oral presentations.


Biology Thesis Presentation Day  student talk These talks fulfill examination requirements for undergraduate students completing their Honours Specialzation degree.


The Helen Battle Lecture Seriestest This seminar series is given in honour of Dr. Helen Battle who had a long and highly-distinguished career at Western.


The David Laudenbach Lecture Series  Butterfly Given in memorium of a truly exceptional scientist in Western’s Plant Sciences Department, Dr.David Laudenbach.


The Irene Uchida Lecture Series  Butterfly Irene Uchida was a Canadian geneticist and Down Syndrome researcher.
