Light is often considered a magical and wondrous medium for creative experimentation. Students in the second year sculpture class spent several weeks in the gallery working with a broad spectrum of materials that resulted in the creation of innovative installation-based projects.  Using slumping techniques to shape glass the students were able to cast images into one another thereby bending light as it flowed through objects, altering vast areas of space from one or more light sources. Not limited to using glass the students also explored other materials that altered the stream of light, making use of other amorphous materials or opaque solids, creating possibilities for the use of shadow to become an antithetical idea to illumination.
