Join A Study

In order to carry out our research, we rely heavily on participants from the community. If you think you might be interested in being part of our research, see our project listings below to learn more.

STUDY #1

Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder Needed

Volunteers are needed to participate in a research study at Western to investigate brain function during auditory processing. Children will participate a 2½-3½ hour session that will include testing of their language, thinking, and social interaction skills, and measurement of their brain’s response to sounds using electroencephalography (EEG). EEG is completely non-invasive and does not involve any form of radiation.

We need children who have all of the following features:

• Aged 6-11 years old
• Diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder 
• Able to speak in sentences of three words or more
• Able to sit still for five minutes while watching a silent movie
• Do not have a hearing impairment or a neurological disorder (such as seizures, cerebral palsy or hydrocephalus)

We have a very flexible booking schedule, and can offer a time during weekdays, evenings or weekends.

• Do not have a hearing impairment or a neurological disorder (such as seizures, cerebral palsy or hydrocephalus)
• Have no history of learning or developmental problems

We have a very flexible booking schedule, and can offer a time during weekdays, evenings or weekends.
