Welcome Assistant Professor Sheri Molnar

The Department of Earth Sciences is pleased to welcome Dr. Sheri Molnar to our faculty. She has been appointed to the position of Assistant Professor effective August 1, 2015. Dr. Molnar completed her Ph.D. at the University of Victoria in 2011, and has spent the past three years as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of British Columbia.

Dr. Molnar's research is focused on estimating subsurface ground conditions using surface seismic methods and examining effects to earthquake ground shaking. She has led or participated in earthquake response teams in Canada, Chile, & Nepal, as well as the U.S.A. and Greece. She begins her position at Western shortly after participating in an earthquake response team to Nepal to study and help out following the recent devastating earthquake there.

A native of Windsor, Ontario, Sheri Molnar can be found in her new office in BGS 1040. She will be teaching Earth Sciences 2222B this coming winter term, as well as leading the field component of the Department's Geophysics Field School in early September.
