Triathlon Club

Description

The Western Triathlon Club is truly for folks of all athletic abilities and competitive drives. We have several coached workouts throughout the week, including swimming, running, indoor cycling and strength training! Our coaches design workouts with various levels in mind, and we will progress throughout the year, so you don't have to be an expert to join. And, you can attend as many or as few as you'd like each week–whatever works with you. We also participate in the University Multisport Series, with a couple races coming up in Spring 2024! Our sport of Triathlon is growing, and we’d love for you to be a part of that growth.

About the President

The current president, Chanpreet Riarh, is an undergrad in her fourth year of medical sciences, pursuing the Microbiology and Immunology Honour’s Specialization module. Chanpreet grew up as a competitive swimmer and runner, up until beginning her undergraduate experience and tacking on biking to complete the trio. She has competed in Olympic distance and half-ironman distance triathlons, in addition to multiple half-marathons and marathons. The sport of triathlon and helping new and experienced athletes achieve their athletic aspirations has become her passion in the past few years.

A quote from our team:

“UWO Tri Club has become a major part of many students’ experiences at Western. It has become a solace from the hussle and bussle of daily life, and we sincerely hope it will do the same for you! Our goal is to work with our qualified coaches to create a friendly environment where members can challenge their limits and cross their first (or next) finish line!”

Events

Town Hall: Our first meet up outside of practice times as a chance to get to know the executive team and for us to hear from our members–what they are looking for from this Club and what they would like to see in the following season.

Potluck: An end of semester potluck has become a tradition in our Club to celebrate the various achievements of our members, and a chance to socialize before we hit the books for exam season.

Splash & Dash: Each year, we host a race composed of a 15 min swim followed by a 15 min run for a chance to compete against fellow triathletes.
