Direct Admissions Agreement with Education

Each year, The School of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences (SMSS) will provide the Faculty of Education with Bachelor of Education candidates selected from qualified graduates.

 

To qualify for direct admission to the Bachelor of Education Program via SMSS, applicants must:

  1. Complete a Four-year BSc or Honours BSc degree by August 31 of year one of the B.Ed. program. The degree must include an Honours Specialization, Specialization or Major module offered by the Department of Mathematics or by the Department of Statistical and Actuarial Sciences and must be conferred no later than the fall of year one of the B.Ed. program.
  2. Meet all B.Ed. admission requirements for the Intermediate/Senior stream with Mathematics as a teaching subject. See https://www.edu.uwo.ca/teacher-education/specialties-is.html.
  3. Successfully complete EDUC 2200 Perspectives on Schooling. (This course may be in progress at the time of B.Ed. application, but must be completed before the B.Ed. begins.)
  4. Apply to the Faculty of Education through OUAC/TEAS. - How to Apply - Faculty of Education - Western University (uwo.ca)
  5. Take the CASPer Assessment is a mandatory requirement for all applicants including direct pathway applicants. Testing takes place directly through the CASPer site. You will require your OUAC/TEAS Reference Number and government-issued ID to sign up for CASPer. You will receive your OUAC/TEAS Reference Number after you submit your TEAS application. CASPer results are sent directly to the Faculty of Education at Western by the CASPer agency.
  6. Be selected for direct admission by The School of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences.

 

If you wish to be considered for direct admission to the B.Ed. program via SMSS, please send an official transcript and the subject of your second teachable to the attention of Mira Grkavac, mgrkava@uwo.ca, at the School of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences in Middlesex College, Room 255, by September 30 of the last year of your B.Sc.
