Anti-Racism Pedagogy

Anti-racism pedagogies represent a paradigm shift in teaching methodologies, moving beyond traditional approaches to create inclusive and equitable learning environments (Blakely, 2009).
In this workshop, participants will gain an understanding of some key elements of racism, exploring how these elements persist in educational institutions. We will address the role of implicit biases and microaggressions in perpetuating inequity.
Next, we will begin to explore the dynamic landscape of anti-racism delving into the transformative power they can hold within educational contexts.
We will explore practical strategies for educators to integrate anti-racism frameworks into their teaching practices, fostering a curriculum that reflects diverse perspectives and experiences.
The session will conclude with a team hurdle, encouraging participants to identify at least one change they can implement immediately in their teaching practices to promote anti-racism..
