Bob Barney and Riley Nowokowski join Labatt Park National Historic Site Committee

Professor Emeritus Bob Barney, who wrote the historical study for the 1995 relocation of the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum from Toronto to St. Marys, Ontario, has been appointed, along with PhD student Riley Nowokowski, to the City of London's steering committee preparing the submission brief to the Canadian National Heritage Site Selection Board, for London's John Labatt Memorial Park to be granted National Heritage Site distinction.
Barney and Nowokowski have spent a portion of the past three years researching and writing the 143 year history of the Park and establishing its authenticity as the world's oldest surviving baseball grounds. Their article: "A Canadian National Treasure: Tecumseh/Labatt Memorial Park, Baseball History’s Oldest, Continuously-Operating Ballpark," will be published in the Fall 2021 issue of Ontario History.
