SSIRG members attend SCRI 2019

Drs. Alison Doherty, Laura Misener and David Howe, and Doctoral Candidates Swarali Patil and Nancy Quinn, attended the annual Sport Canada Research Initiative Conference, held October 24-25 in Ottawa.

  • Alison Doherty shared her experience with the Fundamentals of OCAP online training offered by the First Nations Information Governance Centre, encouraging colleagues to engage with the program.
  • Laura Misener’s joint research with Drs. Marijke Taks (University of Ottawa), Laurence Chalip (George Mason University) and Christine Green (George Mason University) was shared with the delegates, highlighting the challenges of leveraging mid-sized sport events for participation.
  • Swarali Patil presented “Continuers, Re-kindlers, and Late Starters: A Profile of Masters Athletes and their Experiences in Sport” on behalf of the SSIRG team working on this interdisciplinary project (Doctoral Candidate Sarah Deck, and Drs. Glen Belfy, Alison Doherty, Craig Hall and Angela Schneider)
