PhD Public Lecture - Jared Walters: 'Narratives of Canadian identity in UFC championship fights'
Working with Professor Michael Heine in SSIRG's area of sport sociology research, Jared Walters investigates the popular narratives surrounding mixed martial arts and UFC events. In his dissertation, he specifically examines the strategic use of narratives of Canadian identity during the Ultimate Fighting Championship expansion into Canada. Jared delivered his public lecture, and successfully defended his dissertation, on December 3, 2019.
