Orientation, Residence, and Event Support

Community Services can support Western programs and events with safety information, outreach, and prevention-focused engagement.

• Orientation and welcome-week programming
• Residence meetings and safety events
• Information booths and community fairs
• Faculty, department, and student-group events
• Crime-prevention campaigns and seasonal safety initiatives
• Safety information tailored to a specific campus activity or audience

Bicycle Registration and Theft Prevention

WSCS supports bicycle-security education and Western’s participation in 529 Garage, a bicycle-registration program that can help identify and recover stolen bicycles.

• Register your bicycle and record its serial number, make, model, colour, and identifying features
• Keep current photographs of the bicycle
• Use a high-quality lock and secure the frame to an approved bicycle rack
• Remove loose accessories and other easily stolen items
• Report suspicious activity near bicycle racks to WSCS
• Report a stolen bicycle as soon as possible and provide the registration and serial-number information

Golf Cart and Low-Speed Vehicle Training

WSCS supports practical training for Western employees who are required to operate golf carts or other approved low-speed vehicles as part of their work.

• Complete any required online or classroom training before the practical session
• Receive instruction on safe operation, campus routes, pedestrian areas, and vehicle limitations
• Follow Western requirements for authorization, inspection, and safe vehicle use
• Contact Community Services for current training information and scheduling guidance
