Our Role at Western

Western Special Constable Service supports Western’s academic mission by helping create a safe, secure, and equitable environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

WSCS provides a reliable response 24 hours a day to emergencies, safety concerns, and violations of University rules and applicable laws.

The Service also promotes crime prevention, safety and security awareness, community service, and referrals while working in genuine partnership with the Western community.

How We Serve the Community

WSCS combines emergency response, prevention, enforcement, education, and community partnership to support safety and good order across Western.

  • Responding to emergencies and assisting students, faculty, staff, and visitors
  • Protecting people and property through safety and security programs
  • Preventing crime, maintaining the peace, resolving conflicts, and promoting good order
  • Delivering inclusive and non-discriminatory services to Western’s diverse community
  • Supporting compliance with University policies and safety requirements
  • Enforcing applicable federal, provincial, and municipal laws when necessary
  • Working proactively with the community to develop and deliver safety programs

WSCS is accountable to the Western community and encourages everyone to take an active role in campus safety and security.
