Sloan Kudrinko
Program: MMASc in Global Health Systems Candidate
Sloan Kudrinko is a Master’s of Management of Applied Sciences (MMASc) Candidate, specializing in Global Health Systems in Africa at Western University. Prior to this, she completed a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology at the University of Windsor while playing for the Women’s Varsity Hockey team. During Sloan’s undergraduate degree she travelled to Fiji with Volunteer Eco System Abroad Organization whose objective was to help rebuild schools and teach English to local students. Following this experience Sloan realized that she wanted to continue her education in order to increase her understanding of developing countries with the goal of creating new business strategies to help them grow and develop. The MMASc program brings together Sloan’s passion for healthy lifestyles, research and the policies that bridge them to create positive, impactful results. Sloan aspires to improve global health systems in developing countries utilizing a transdisciplinary approach to educate youth on different aspects of health. She has gained tremendous experience working with children in Ottawa across all age groups as a summer camp counsellor and hockey instructor. Additionally, during her time at the University of Windsor Sloan was an active volunteer for Let’s Talk Science as well as a peer mentor for Succeed Clean. Working with these organizations Sloan was able to teach a variety of science and healthy living topics to elementary and high school students. Sloan is also very interested in studying and improving healthcare and the well-being of vulnerable populations in general with a specific focus on women and children issues. Sloan’s main area of interest is oral health and hygiene and she plans to focus her future studies on the underlying cause and education regarding oral health and how it can relate to one’s overall health.
