Program: MMASc in Global Health Systems Candidate

Why were you interested in beng a part of the Collaborative or MMASc in GHS-A program?

I chose the MMASc Global Health Systems program to develop the hands- on skills necessary to work within the field of global health. My masters in Global Health Systems is aimed at developing a trans-disciplinary approach to solving wicked global problems. However, global heath does not exist in a closed box, but rather functions within a dynamic interdependent system. Consequently the programs focuses on building skills in communication, as well as developing knowledge in areas such as finance, which will be essential to work effectively within the evolving field of global health.

What are you passionate about in global health systems?

I am passionate about ensuring that everyone, no matter where they live, has access to quality healthcare. I believe that health care is a basic human right that everyone is entitled to.  It is my hope that the skills developed through the MMASc program will allow me to contribute to the development of effective strategies to treat and ultimately eradicate infectious diseases such as TB, HIV and Aids.
