Internship Project: Explaining gendered smallholder farming food disparity in northern Ghana

Siera Vercillo is a doctoral candidate working in the Environment, Health and Hazards lab in the Department of Geography at Western University. Her research is on the right to food, gender justice, agriculture systems development, and political ecology in sub-Saharan Africa, specifically northern Ghana. She is also working on a Government of Canada food security project operating across West Africa developing extension services and building cooperatives for smallholder farmers.
