Jean Sauveur Uwitonze was born and grew up in Rwanda, a small landlocked country in Eastern Africa that became renown after the genocide of 1994. After he graduated from Medical School, Jean Sauveur worked both as a Practitioner and Public Health Manager before joining the humanitarian sector where he served in refugee camps both at national and international level. Dr. Uwitonze was enthusiastically working in the humanitarian field but soon realized that such huge responsibilities needed to be supported by advanced knowledge and skills. As a recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Scholarship, he enrolled in the Master’s in Management of Applied Sciences (MMASc) in Global Health Systems at Western University to acquire these key competencies.
