Algebra, Number Theory, and Combinatorics

Research in Algebra, Number Theory, and Combinatorics (ANTC) features numerous weekly seminars, collaborative graduate studentand postdoctoral supervision, an active research visitor program, and conference organization.

Members of the ANTC group at Western explore various interconnected areas of mathematics, including algebraic groups and monoids, torsors, invariant theory, cryptography, Galois cohomology, quadratic forms, algebraic combinatorics, matroids, hyperplane arrangements, and representation theory. Many of these pursuits intersect with research in other groups at Western, like algebraic/symplectic geometry, computational mathematics, and topology/homotopy theory.
