Research In Profile

Andrews Tawiah is an Assistant Professor in Advanced Health Care Practice in the School of Physical Therapy - Faculty of Health Sciences. He leads a research and educational scholarship program aimed at improving interprofessional team-based models of care in primary care and emergency departments. His primary focus is developing and evaluating competencies and capabilities for advanced healthcare professionals, with a dual emphasis:

Primary Care: Developing and evaluating competencies required by advanced healthcare practitioners in primary care settings.

Emergency Department: Developing and evaluating competencies for advanced healthcare practitioners in emergency departments.

Additionally, professor Tawiah is committed to strengthening rehabilitation efforts in low- and middle-income countries through Advanced Health Care Practice. He contributed to shaping the World Physiotherapy policy on Advanced Practice Physiotherapy and developed the first global core competency and capability framework for advanced practice physiotherapy. His work aims to address urgent and future healthcare challenges in Canada and globally.
