Service Interruption Notice: Outdoor Stairs beside WSRC
Western University will be closing the south staircase (beside WSRC) between the South Valley Parking Lot and the Alumni/Thompson Parking Lot from April 27 to August 28, 2026. Pedestrians will be detoured to the north staircase.
This closure is required in order to improve services to multiple campus buildings by constructing a new service corridor for campus utilities, and to allow excavation for new and temporary services required for continuous utility operations on campus.
Some exceptions may apply - where the south staircase (WSRC) may reopen and the north staircase (South Valley/Engineering Precinct stairs) may be closed - as Facilities Management has indicated that the WSRC staircase will reopen April 28-29, and the South/Valley Engineering Precinct Stairs will be closed these two days.
Facilities Management has also indicated that signage will be provided to direct to alternate routes.
