Welcome!
The School for Advanced Studies in the Arts and Humanities is the flagship of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities. SASAH’s hybrid program combines scholarly investigation, pedagogical innovation, and experiential learning to offer a uniquely interdisciplinary and cross-cultural educational experience. Courses are taught by Research Fellows drawn from the internationally recognized faculty in Classical Studies, English and Writing Studies, Film Studies, French Studies, Modern Languages and Literatures, Philosophy, Visual Arts, and Women’s Studies and Feminist Research.
Our globalized and digitalized world demands vision and insight in order to understand its increasing complexity. Meeting this challenge requires the kinds of critical and cultural thought and practice that have been the hallmarks of the Arts and Humanities within a liberal arts education. The School’s mandate is thus to educate imaginations in order to help students realize their critical and cultural potential to make a transformative impact on the world at large. Think of SASAH as taking liberal arts education into the twenty-first century.
I am proud to be Director of this exciting and innovative venture to showcase our Faculty’s excellence in research and teaching. Please take the time to browse this website, and feel free to contact us for further information about the School, its Program, and the application process. We look forward to hearing from prospective students, and to welcoming our inaugural class in September 2013.
