First and second tornadoes of season for SK

The NTP has confirmed the first and second recorded tornadoes of the 2025 season in Saskatchewan with weak tornadoes near Cut Knife, about 175 km NW of Saskatoon, on June 2. Details are provided in the summaries below, and a regional map is provided. The tornadoes can be plotted on the NTP Dashboard here.

Date: June 2, 2025

Start Time: 3:30 PM CST (2130Z)

Final Classification: Tornado (Over Land)

Preliminary EF-Scale Rating: EF0-Default

Estimated Tornado Location: 52.68N, 109.06W

Description: Witness captured video of a landspout tornado south of Cut Knife. No damage has been reported. The preliminary EF-Scale assessment is EF0-Default. Satellite imagery review is pending. A second landspout tornado later developed in the same area.

Estimated Tornado Location: 52.67N, 109.05W

Description: Witness captured video of a landspout tornado south of Cut Knife. No damage has been reported. The preliminary EF-Scale assessment is EF0-Default. Satellite imagery review is pending. An earlier landspout tornado was also observed in the same area.
