Tornadoes over water in ON and NB

NTP investigations have concluded that a tornado (over water) occurred on July 20 at Lake Nipissing near North Bay, ON and on July 22 at Chaleur Bay near Bathurst, NB. A funnel cloud was observed above the spray vortex in each case.

Satellite imagery will be reviewed to see if there was any shoreline damage but for now the preliminary rating for both is EF0-Default. Note that if damage is found along a shoreline, the classification changes to 'Tornado (over land)'. Thus the classification of 'Tornado (over water)' is preliminary.
