New ON tornadoes: August 2 and 3

Careful and thorough NTP investigation has led to the confirmation of 7 new tornadoes in NW ON from the evening of Aug 2nd into the early morning hours of August 3rd. Six of the tornadoes developed as a bow-echo storm overtook a weak supercell near Grassy Narrows. The seventh tornado developed with this QLCS a few hours later near Savant Lake. The tornadoes ranged in intensity from EF1 to EF2. Details are provided in the summary information below. A radar image is also included.

Damage assessed as EF2 tornado, with an estimated max. wind speed of 190 km/h, track length of 17.3 km and max. path width of 1.06 km. Tornado motion was from the W (approx. 260 degrees). Start time is radar estimated. Concurrent downburst damage was also visible at the end of the tornado track and ending at Pakwash Lake, preliminarily assessed as EF0.
