Western Interdisciplinary Student Symposium
on Language Research 2012

The Graduate Program in Linguistics at the University of Western Ontario is pleased to present the Fourth Annual Western Interdisciplinary Student Symposium on Language Research (WISSLR), to be held March 16-17, 2012. In keeping with the interdisciplinary nature of the Master’s program at Western, we are pleased to invite graduate and undergraduate students of all backgrounds to submit abstracts on original research on language from a range of disciplinary approaches. Topics may come from such areas as Theoretical Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, Computational Linguistics, Language Acquisition, Psycholinguistics, Communication Disorders, Natural Language Processing, Linguistic Anthropology, Linguistic Interfaces, Philosophy of Language, and much more.

The symposium will be held at the University of Western Ontario, with the possibility of streaming live to the Internet using Wimba technology. We also welcome presentations from other locations via the same means (all software downloadable for conference participants). Each participant will have 15 minutes for their presentation, and 5 minutes for questions and discussion. Works in progress and undergraduate papers are welcome, too.

Abstracts of no more than 250 words (plus title) can be submitted at WISSLR Abstract 2012 by Thursday, February 2. Please include your name, e-mail, title, and additional information on the online form. Personal information will not be identified to the abstract review committee. There are a limited number of spots available for off-site presenters, so preference for online presentations will be given to international candidates. Successful applicants will be notified by Friday, February 17, 2012. Partial travel assistance may be available for some participants coming to London for this event.

**Deadline for submissions: Thursday, February 2**
