Room Information

There are currently four active learning classrooms. WALS-flex refers to our flexible learning classroom, while WALS-tech refers to our high-technology active learning classroom. Details of both classrooms are presented below.

WALS-FLEX

WALS-flex refers to our flexible active learning classroom that provides fluid seating with the aim of enhancing student engagement, collaboration and interaction. The mobility of the furniture allows the space to be configured based on the needs of classes. We currently have one flexible learning classroom as follows:

Location: FIMS and Nursing Building (FNB) Room 2220
Capacity: 60 Students
Furniture: Chairs (armless stacker chairs) and tables (54” x 18” on glides)
Screens: 2 (10-foot; motorized)
Audio visual equipment: 2 Projectors, 1 document camera, Wireless lapel microphone
Computer: Rack PC with DVD drive, wheelchair accessible instructor work-surface, instructor monitor
Instructor device connectors: Network; HDMI; VGA; Audio input jacks
White Boards: Fixed panels across front wall of classroom, side walls, and rear wall. Huddle boards

WALS-TECH

UC 1110 Classroom

WALS-tech refers to our technology-infused active learning classroom designed to enhance active and collaborative learning using various technology-based tools. We currently have three classrooms with similar configurations as follows:   

Room Capacities:

  • University Community Centre (UCC) Room 66 - 49 students
  • University College (UC) Room 1110 - 42 students (pictured above)
  • FIMS and Nursing Building (FNB) Room 2210 - 42 students

Furniture: 7 D-Shaped fixed tables and ~43 Movable chairs with wheels
Screens: (7) 8'x4' projected display areas on whiteboards with interactive white boards
Audio visual equipment: 7 projectors, 1 document camera
Computer: Rack PC with DVD drive, accessible instructor work-surface, instructor monitor
Audio visual equipment: 1 document camera, ceiling camera
Instructor device connectors: Network; HDMI; VGA; Audio input jacks
