Gender-Based and Sexual Violence Prevention Education
Western is a community that values respect and celebrates diversity. We are committed to providing you with a safe and respectful environment in which you can grow and flourish. As a member of the Western community, you play an integral part in fostering a supportive and safe environment for everyone on campus. As part of that commitment, we ask students to complete Gender-Based and Sexual Violence Prevention Training and become aware of resources available on campus.
Designed to confront a culture that normalizes and perpetuates gender-based and sexual violence, our Gender—Based and Sexual Violence (GBSV) education is approached from an intersectional feminist, sex-positive, evidence-informed, contextual, and collaborative point of view. The GBSV Education Team provides training to students, faculty, and staff, as well as to the community at large. The team utilizes research to develop curriculum and workshops that foster a safer environment for everyone on and off-campus. In partnership with Western students, faculty, and staff, our vision is for everyone at Western to study, live, and work, free of fear or threat of GBSV and to apply this knowledge to be a part of a greater culture shift.
