iOS 11 and Western Email

This notice relates to a problem with mail on Apple devices only.  Android users are not affected by this issue and need not read any further.

As previously communicated, Apple iOS 11 was released on September 19 and created a compatibility issue that may have prevented users from accessing their Office 365 mail if they use the native mail app on their iPhone or iPad.

Apple believes they have corrected the issue through revisions to the iOS software – Western Technology Services has conducted some testing with the latest version (iOS 11.0.3 released last week) and has not observed a recurrence of the problem with this release.

If you are planning to upgrade your apple device to iOS 11 or have already upgraded to iOS 11 and are experiencing problems with your mail, WTS recommends installing the iOS 11.0.3 update or using the Outlook app for iOS available in the App Store to access your Western Mail.

Please note that upgrading any device OS software can have unexpected consequences.  WTS recommends that users always proceed with caution (e.g. backup your device before an OS upgrade).

If you require any further assistance, please contact the WTS help desk.
