September 25 Update

In late January, Western’s Presidential Selection Committee was tasked with finding the best candidate to lead our university into the years ahead. Our next president will have an enormous impact on the future direction of Western and the committee’s goal has been to attract the best caliber of candidates to apply.

Following a consultation with the university community and beyond, the committee was able to identify the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead for Western and the qualities required in our next president.

I am pleased to report that the committee has been successful in attracting high-quality candidates and the interview process is underway.

The policy governing the recruitment of a President establishes a nine-month timeframe to complete the search. Today, Western’s Board of Governors granted the committee a one-month extension to finish our work. We expect to put forward a recommendation to Board regarding the next President and Vice-Chancellor, no later than the Nov. 29 Board meeting
