An international search for Western University’s 11th President and Vice-Chancellor is underway.
This is a pivotal time for higher education in Canada and globally, with extraordinary possibilities in the pursuit of new knowledge, the sharing of that knowledge and in serving society.
As chair of the Board of Governors and the Presidential Selection Committee, I encourage you to participate in assisting the committee to find the best candidate to lead our university. The search committee’s work is a top priority. Our goal is to attract the best caliber of candidates to apply as the choice of president will have an enormous impact on the future direction of Western.
Being a university president is an incredibly complex and demanding position, and one that will play an important role in building on Western’s reputation as a world class institution for teaching and research standard of excellence.
How Western moves forward in the next five to 10 years will be determined by the strategic priorities we identify under the leadership of the individual hired and by her or his characteristics. This individual will inherit an exceptional campus community of faculty, staff and students. The ideal candidate must be able to achieve consensus among these stakeholders to build on the best ideas.
The Selection Committee wants to know where you see the opportunities and challenges for Western, and the qualities required in our next president. This website includes ways you can participate. We will continue to provide updates on the committee’s progress in the process.
The Board of Governors has initiated a global search to identify candidates. We welcome individuals who have experience leading and managing with inspiration and integrity in a complex organization.
If you are a prospective candidate or wish to recommend a prospective candidate, please contact Heather Ring, Partner from our search firm Caldwell Partners: firstname.lastname@example.org or (416) 934-2210. All deliberations and matters pertaining to search are strictly confidential.
