The EJLB Foundation Post-Doctoral Fellowship

At The University of Western Ontario

Name: The EJLB Foundation Post-Doctoral Fellowship in the Faculty of Engineering Science.
Donor and Funding: This term-funded Fellowship is made possible by a generous donation from The EJLB Foundation in the amount of $90,000. In accordance with University policy, an amount equal to 5% of the total gift will be applied to support fundraising, donor management and stewardship costs. This will result in a net gift of $ 85,500 available for spending.
Annual Spending: Approximately $28,500 will be provided to the selected Fellow each year as a salary supplement.
Effective Date: May 2000 - April 2003
Purpose: To attract and retain a top quality post-doctoral research Fellow through the establishment of a term fund that will provide income for a Fellowship for three years. The Fellow will support Dr. Argyios (Gerry) Margaritis' project to develop a non-toxic biodegradable bioinsecticide.

The mission of the Faculty of Engineering Science is to be one of the most innovative and responsive Engineering faculties in the country. To provide high quality, relevant education in selected branches of Engineering leading to accredited degrees. To help industry and government secure a competitive advantage in a global, technological workplace. To improve the quality of life of Canadians through basic and applied research in Engineering and technology.

Criteria: Selection of the post-doctoral Fellow in Engineering Science will be administered by the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Science. The selection and administration of the Fellow will be in keeping with the University's policy on Post-Doctoral Fellows.

The holder of the Fellowship will be responsible for research and may assist in graduate student supervision within the Faculty of Engineering Science. The holder of the Fellowship will provide a written annual report of all activities throughout the year. Each Fellowship will be for a 1-year term, renewable at the discretion of the selection committee. The stipend provided to the holder of the Fellowship will terminate upon completion of the term.

Reporting: The University of Western Ontario agrees to provide a formal annual report to the EJLB Foundation or others as instructed, regarding all activities of the holder of the Fellowship and the financial status of the term fund.
Permission to Alter: If it becomes necessary to make changes to the terms of these provisions, any such changes will be made in consultation with the EJLB Foundation, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Science and the Director of the Office of Research Services.
