Community Engaged Learning Award

The purpose of the Community Engaged Learning Award is to encourage faculty to design a new course or enhance an existing course using a Community Engaged Learning (CEL) framework. This aligns with Western’s commitment to innovative, high quality undergraduate and graduate education. Community Engaged Learning courses can take many forms, including:

  • Individual student placements with local community organizations
  • Group projects with local community organizations
  • Community - based research projects
  • International learning opportunities
  • Community guest lectures

Awarded by the Experiential Learning team in The Student Success Centre at Western University, the Community Engaged Learning (CEL) Award aims to support faculty in creating opportunities for students to connect academic course content with meaningful community engagement that contributes to student learning, and local and international community development.
