Aqua Sport

Age: Senior (8 - 11 yrs)

Join our experienced instructors for a week of aquatic fun! Experience a different aquatic sport daily and wrap up the week with mini competitions. Youth will have the opportunity to try sports such as: water polo, synchronized swimming, competitive swimming (starts, turns and finishes), snorkeling, water fitness and more. Dry land activities will complement the in pool instruction. 

1.5 hours of pool time der day!

Prerequisite: All participants MUST be able to swim comfortably without a lifejacket in deep water.

Archery Adventure

Age: Senior (8 - 11 yrs)


"Archers to the line." "Nock your arrows." "Fire when ready." Campers will learn the basics of archery in this beginners’ program as well as play a host of other outdoor activities. They will develop their skills by learning from experienced instructors in a safe and fun environment. All archery specific equipment is provided. However, in the event of inclement weather, alternate activities will be provided for campers at an indoor location.                                                                                                                         

Art & Leisure

Age: Junior (5 - 7 yrs) & Senior (8 - 11 yrs)


Time to let your creative energy flow! This camp will provide the space and tools needed to explore each camper's individuality. Campers will learn different techniques and get to work with different mediums. Possible areas of focus include sketching, cartooning, sculpting and painting. All masterpieces created by the young artists will be brought home at the end of the week. Campers will periodically recharge their creative focus with mindfulness exercises.

Basketball FUNdamentals

Age: Only for 8 - 17 yrs

For players with a basic basketball background who are looking to improve their fundamental basketball technical and tactical skills. Instruction will be provided by Western Mustangs varsity men’s and women’s basketball teams and coaches bringing with them a wealth of knowledge and experience. This camp will use variations of play to help athletes gain the skill and understanding to make their club or school experience enjoyable.

Campers will improve upon their basic dribbling and shooting skills while acquiring new ones. Staff will use the Canada Basketball's LTAD model to tailor drills and programming.

In addition, other complimentary games and activities will be used to develop important basic motor skills. Overall the camp will be FUN, active and will provide youth with an opportunity to develop their fundamental skills and increased knowledge of the game.

Boogie

Age: Junior (5- 7 yrs)

Get ready to hop and bop with Sport Western's fun dance themed camp - Jr. Boogie! Campers will be taught dance basics from a selection of disciplines with entertaining movement related games intermingled into the program. Spots will fill up quickly so please don't hesitate to leap at the opportunity to sign up now!

Builders

Age: Junior (5 - 7 yrs)

Plan it and build it! Let your imagination take you away as you utilize a number of materials to build various items and structures. Campers will be divided into groups and given a wide range of items to develop and build the best project they can! Counsellors will work with each group and offer guidance and help during the planning and building process. What will be next a boat? A plane? A house? Every week includes new items to build and create something new!

Court Games

Age: Senior (8 - 11 yrs)

It's time to hit the hardwood with the Sport Western Court Games Camp. Court Games Camp is a new twist on our popular Multi-Sport Camp and features many popular indoor sports such as volleyball, basketball, badminton and squash. Don't forget those non-marking indoor sneakers!

Discovery

Age: Junior (5 - 7 yrs)

Are your kids always asking why? If so, Discovery camp is the perfect fit for them. It is a place where science and nature are explored through fun, hands-on activities. Children will discover how exciting science can be through age-appropriate experiments and outdoor activities, with a focus on different science themes each day. Campers will also be able to take home certain projects at the end of each day.

Fencing

Age: Senior (8 - 11 yrs) 

Learn about the exciting, fast and furious world of fencing! Participants will have fun building strength, agility, and stamina as they come to know one of the oldest sports in history. Fencing will be taught using the classic foil technique. At the end of the week, fencers will have the basic skills needed to compete in their first in-house tournament. Instruction will be provided by the Western varsity fencing team. All fencing equipment will be supplied but campers are encouraged to bring long pants for protection. 

Field Games

Age: Junior (5 - 7 yrs) & Senior (8 - 11 yrs)

Field Games camp is the perfect opportunity to get your kids outside for the summer. Campers will play a mix of your favourite field activites like soccer & capture the flag; while also trying some new activities like beginners' lacrosse and various fun mini games. With programming like this, your little ones are sure to have a field day at this camp.

Indigenous Games

Age: Senior (8 - 11 yrs)

Have a blast this summer with our North American Indigenous Games inspired camp. Campers will participate in Archery and Lacrosse each day, as well as cycle through other NAIG supported sports like badminton, volleyball, basketball, soccer, baseball and track. The Indigenous Games camp will start with a land acknowledgement and will feature other education components.

Kids Zone

Age: Junior (5 - 7 yrs)

This program is designed for the camper who just wants to have fun! Our high-spirited instructors work hard to prepare fun games and activities that will keep campers physically and mentally engaged. Specific sports will not be the focus of this program, but youth-oriented themes and activities such as treasure hunts, obstacle courses, and interactive games will be offered.

Multi-Sport

Age: Junior (5 - 7 yrs) & Senior (8 - 11 yrs) 

This recreation based camp designed to fulfill a camper’s burning desire to try new and exciting sports, perfect for the all-round camper with an emphasis placed on skill development. Campers will learn and play a different sport every day, a perfect mix of traditional gym class sports and non-traditional sports. It is a week full of high-energy activity with no day alike. 

 

Performing Arts

Age: Senior (8 - 11 yrs) 

Jam through this week full of tight grooves and cool moves. Learn the basics of hip hop and funk dance while performing to today's hottest music. The basics of Cheerleading will also be covered as well as fun games focused on the Dramatic Arts. All ranges of experience are welcome.

Physics & Sport

Age: Senior (8 - 11 yrs)

Are your kids always asking why? If so, physics & sport camp is perfect fit for them. It is a place where science and sport are explored through fun, hands-on activities. Children will learn the physics behind sport themed science projects with periodic breaks to apply what they have learned in the gyms or outdoors. Campers will also be able to take home certain projects at the end of each day.

Racquet Sports

Age: Senior (8 - 11 yrs)

Swing into summer with Sport Western's racquet/paddle themed camp. Campers will be taught basic squash, badminton and table tennis skills with the opportunity to drill and play mock matches along with fellow campers. With fun mini games and activities worked into the programming, this camp is designed to be a SMASH hit.

Soccer FUNdamentals

Age: (6 - 14 yrs)

For players with a basic soccer background who are looking to improve their fundamental soccer technical and tactical skills. Instruction will be provided by Western Mustangs varsity men’s and women’s soccer teams and coaches bringing with them a wealth of knowledge and experience. This camp will use variations of play to help athletes gain the skill and understanding to make their club or school experience enjoyable.

Sessions will include many small sided games and activities that are designed to increase game awareness and technical ability in a fun yet challenging environment.

In addition, other complimentary games and activities will be used to develop important basic motor skills. Overall the camp will be FUN, active and will provide youth with an opportunity to develop their fundamental skills and increased knowledge of the game.

Softball

Age: Senior (7 - 16 yrs)

For boys and girls, this camp offers beginner to intermediate instruction in all the basic softball skills including: throwing, catching, fielding, hitting, and sliding. Participants are grouped according to age, as well as prior experience, and the instruction focuses on learning fundamental skills and proper mechanics through drills and game play. Instruction will be provided by Western Mustangs varsity softball athletes and coaches. 

Stallions Track & Field

Age: (12 - 15 yrs) 

This camp will focus on the development of all track and field events with the opportunity for advanced instruction in specific events. Campers will receive both individual and group instruction. Instruction will be provided primarily by Western Mustangs varsity athletes, under the guidance of the Western Mustangs track & field coach.  

Track & Field

Age: Junior (5 - 7 yrs) & Senior (8 - 11 yrs)

This camp will teach children the foundations of movement and an introduction to track and field events. Campers will learn how to run, jump and throw. A strong emphasis will be placed on developing physical literacy skills. Instruction will be provided by the Western Mustangs track and field varsity athletes and coaches. The camp is sure to be exciting and fun! 

Turf Sports

Age: Senior (8 - 11 yrs) 

This recreation based camp is designed to allow campers the opportunity to try new and exciting turf related sports & activities. Perfect for the all-round camper with an emphasis placed on skill development, campers will play a variety of outdoor games such as: flag football, ultimate frisbee, soccer, softball, rugby. etc. With a new activity each day, you don't have to worry about your kids growing tired of this new and exciting camp. 

Volleyball FUNdamentals

Age: (10 - 15 yrs)

For players with a basic volleyball background who are looking to improve their fundamental volleyball technical and tactical skills. Instruction will be provided by Western Mustangs varsity men’s and women’s volleyball teams and coaches bringing with them a wealth of knowledge and experience. This camp will use variations of play to help athletes gain the skill and understanding to make their club or school experience enjoyable.

Activities will include: full days of volleyball instruction, high repetition drills, several forms of modified volleyball games (2 on 2, 3 on 3, 6 on 6), basic and advanced offensive and defensive systems, and technical components of the game that allow athletes to be successful in competition. Participants will leave with an understanding of basic volleyball skills, several forms of modified volleyball games (2 on 2, 3 on 3, 6 on 6), basic offensive and defensive systems, as well as experience in practicing the movement patterns, agility, coordination, speed, and flexibility necessary for success in volleyball.

In addition, other complimentary games and activities will be used to develop important basic motor skills. Overall the camp will be FUN, active and will provide youth with an opportunity to develop their fundamental skills and increased knowledge of the game.

University Prospects Volleyball (Women's)

Western Mustangs University Prospects Volleyball

Age: 15 - 18 yrs (Female)
 
Western Mustangs volleyball head coaches will instruct this program with assistance from both men's and women's varsity athletes. The camp will focus on advanced skills and training techniques, introducing higher level team tactics, and applying advanced defensive and offensive systems of play.

Athletes will take part in a variety of activities outside of on court training - including physical testing, volleyball specific strength and conditioning activities as well as a selection of sport specific seminars - nutrition for training & competition, mental training for volleyball athletes etc.

This camp is intended for athletes who have aspirations of continuing their volleyball career at the post-secondary level. Athletes will be asked to perform advanced skills under a variety of training scenarios, and will take part in many drills that simulate the high intensity and competition level necessary to perform successfully at the elite levels of competition. Several forms of modified volleyball games will be used to help athletes understand game concepts and tactics (2 on 2, 3 on 3, 6 on 6).
