An inventory can help to provide a focus for developing learning and study skills:
The Learning and Study Strategies Inventory (LASSI) is a more formal and detailed self-assessment. This tool measures students' awareness about and use of learning and study strategies. Respondents rate how well a number of statements describe their approach to learning at university. Based on the responses, a profile of learning strengths and weaknesses is generated, and the results are summarized in an accompanying report which provides suggestions for improvement.
If you are interested in completing the LASSI, purchase an access code ($5, to cover the cost of the online inventory) from the Learning Skills reception office in Room 4100, Western Student Services Building (WSS). Complete the LASSI and schedule a confidential individual appointment with one of the Learning Skills Counsellors to review the results (the LASSI must be completed at least 24 hours prior to your scheduled appointment). To schedule an appointment, call 519-661-2183 or come in person to Room 4100, WSS.
