Learning Skills Services, Student Development Centre

PAL Centre

PAL Centre General Information:

Before paying for a tutor, get free assistance in SDC's Peer Assisted Learning (PAL) Centre. You can discuss general or subject-specific learning concerns with a Learning Peer in a supportive, peer-run environment and develop learning strategies to achieve your academic goals.

The PAL Centre is currently closed and will re-open in Septemeber 2017.

Do you want to be a better student? The senior student volunteers in the PAL Centre can assist you. The PAL Centre provides students with learning skills assistance on a drop-in basis. Some of the issues addressed are:

  • time management
  • memory techniques
  • essay planning
  • learning from lectures
  • learning from textbooks
  • preparing for/writing multiple-choice exams
  • problem solving for math and science courses
  • writing essay exams
  • managing test anxiety
  • strengthening concentration

A Resource Library is available to all students in the PAL Centre during our hours of operation.  Certain standardized test prep guides (e.g. MCAT) and books on a variety of learning-related topics are available to use onsite.
