Study BLITZ Days General Information:

Finals are nearly here and the Peer Assisted Learning (PAL) Centre wants to help you get ready!  Our Study Blitz Days will help you to learn the skills and course content you need to succeed. 

No appointments needed….just drop by WSSB 4139 any time between 10:30am-3:30pm and receive specialized help in making a study schedule to help you through finals, ways to manage the stress that comes with preparing for and writing exams, and study approaches and content help for Psychology 1000, Physiology 2130, and Biology 1002.

Can’t make it out to our Study Blitz Days?  That’s ok!  Our trained Learning Peers can help you with your learning needs any day Monday-Friday until the last day of classes.

Wanting to get organized to study for your final exams?  Start planning, creating and learning how to implement a successful study schedule with our Learning Peers.

 Study Stress Busters (March 30th)

Feeling stressed about upcoming finals?  We can help!  Drop by the PAL Centre to relax with some stress relief toys, learn easy ways to lessen stress while studying and writing exams, and connect with campus resources that can help you work through any anxiety you may be feeling at this stressful time of year.

Are you taking one or more of these courses and experiencing difficulties with your study strategies or your comprehension of concepts?  Let our Learning Peers assist you!  They can address content related questions and help you develop successful approaches to studying.

PAL Centre General Information:

Before paying for a tutor, get free assistance in SDC's Peer Assisted Learning (PAL) Centre. You can discuss general or subject-specific learning concerns with a Learning Peer in a supportive, peer-run environment and develop learning strategies to achieve your academic goals.


Open: Fall term (September 19 - December 7, 2016) and Winter term (January 9 - April 7, 2017). Closed during the Summer term, the Fall Study Break, December and April exam periods, Reading Week, and statutory holidays.

Math/Physics Hours


Learning Peers help students develop problem-solving skills for first year (and some upper year) Math and Physics courses (in addition to other academic skills) during these hours.

MOS/Business Hours


Learning Peers help students develop effective learning skills for first year (and some second year) MOS and Business courses (in addition to other academic skills) during these hours.

Science Hours


Learning Peers help students develop problem-solving skills for first year (and some upper year) Science courses (in addition to other academic skills) during these hours.

General Learning Skills Hours

Feel free to drop-by for general learning skills help at any time while the PAL Centre is open! Our peers can always help with time management, organization, test preperation, note-taking... AND MUCH MORE!  Please see the list below for general learning skills topics.

Do you want to be a better student? The senior student volunteers in the PAL Centre can assist you. The PAL Centre provides students with learning skills assistance on a drop-in basis. Some of the issues addressed are:

  • time management
  • memory techniques
  • essay planning
  • learning from lectures
  • learning from textbooks
  • preparing for/writing multiple-choice exams
  • problem solving for math and science courses
  • writing essay exams
  • managing test anxiety
  • strengthening concentration

A Resource Library is available to all students in the PAL Centre during our hours of operation.  Certain standardized test prep guides (e.g. MCAT) and books on a variety of learning-related topics are available to use onsite.
