The Canadian Association of Research Libraries (CARL) has designed the Research in Librarianship Grant to support new or established librarians, working in a research library or institution, who are actively engaged in research. The CARL Research in Librarianship Grant is intended to support projects involving structured, evidence-based research in libraries that proposes answers to real-world issues.

Please view the Agency guidelines for a list of identified research priorities. Relevant issues-based research about academic library practices need not necessarily be limited to what was identified in the survey, however, CARL?s intent for a set of national research priorities is to help identify projects of national or regional interest, which can prove useful in developing research partnerships between practitioners, educators and students.

The objectives of the grant are: To support new or established practitioners working in a research environment, or current LIS students actively conducting research with the intent to publish the results. To encourage and support research undertaken by practitioners and students in the field of librarianship. To promote research in the field of librarianship by and/or about Canadians.
