Description: |
To inspire greater use of the C-OPN database, Parkinson's Canada, along with Brain Canada are launching an open data challenge to Parkinson?s researchers and clinicians across Canada to leverage the available C-OPN de-identified database (including imaging and genotyping datasets) only. Interested applicants are invited to submit funding proposals for research projects that will gain new
insights into Parkinson?s diagnosis, progression or advancements in care. Up to 4 funding
proposals from the data challenge will be eligible for funding of up to $50,000 each, to
support these exploratory research projects, with a trajectory for further research studies
and larger funding grants. |

Application Details: |
Applications will be accepted from researchers, scholars, and health professionals
conducting Parkinson?s research in Canada. Applicants must have a research
appointment and employment relationship with an approved institution. Applicants must submit a registration form via email to Ko Currie, Research Funding and
Partnerships Manager (ko.currie@parkinson.ca) by July 14, 2025 (5:00 pm ET) in order to
be eligible to submit a funding proposal. Following an administrative check and relevance
review, applicants deemed eligible will be invited to submit an application.
Full applications are submitted online through the Parkinson Canada online application
system called SMApply. It can be accessed through the following link which is also available
on the Parkinson Canada website at https://parkinsoncan.smapply.io/. The deadline to
submit applications is July 28, 2025 (5:00 pm ET).

NOTE: All research-related grant applications, letters of intent, contracts and agreements requiring an institutional or organizational signature must submit related documents to the Office of Research Services for review and approval. Requests for institutional signature should be received a minimum of five to ten business days before the
posted Sponsor deadline. Please see Western Research's website regarding the institutional signatory process for more details. Specific opportunities may have their own timelines and requirements for submissions. A ROLA Proposal submitted by the PI and bearing department and faculty approvals is required. |
