Description:

This funding opportunity will support applied public health research programs that focus on population health intervention research to promote health and health equity, and align with IPPH's mandate and PHAC's mandate. Population health interventions can include policy, environmental, programmatic and resource distribution approaches. These interventions are often complex and operate within and outside of the health sector (e.g. education, housing, built environment).

The Nominated Principal Applicant must be a mid-career population and public health independent researcher with 5 to 15 years of experience past their last qualifying degree at the time of application. The Nominated Principal Applicant must identify a decision-maker as a collaborator who will be directly engaged in their research program. Individuals may not hold concurrently a CIHR salary award and another federally funded salary award and cannot have previously held an Applied Public Health Chair award. Current Canada Research Chair holders are only eligible to apply for a CIHR salary award if their CRC has concluded by the time of Full Application.

Application Details: This funding opportunity has a two step application process. Phase 1 requires you to complete a Letter of Intent (LOI). Phase 2 requires you to complete an Application upon invitation. The LOI and Application instructions can be found in the How to Apply section of this funding opportunity description.Your Application must be submitted using ResearchNet. Scan and upload the signed signature pages including the routing slip in the Print/Upload Signature Pages task in ResearchNet prior to submitting your application. Choose the Letter of Intent option for your ROLA proposal.
NOTE: All Letters of Intent and Full Applications must be processed through Research Development & Services for institutional approval. Requests for Institutional approvals should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline. A ROLA Proposal (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean electronic approvals) is required for each submission.
