Description:

In general, team grants support expert teams of talented and experienced researchers carrying out high-quality research on important health issues best addressed through a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach. These teams provide superior research training and mentorship environments, and support the production of new knowledge and the translation of research findings into improved health and health care.

This funding opportunity will fund interdisciplinary research teams to provide policymakers, clinicians, public health actors, and high-risk communities with timely and relevant evidence to better prevent, prepare for, and respond to current and future outbreaks of mpox (monkeypox) and other orthopoxviruses in Canada and/or globally. It will also provide opportunities for trainees and early career researchers (ECRs) to gain hands-on experience in the design and implementation of research projects, as well as benefit from incorporated training and mentoring activities to build interdisciplinary research skills and experience. This investment will support the integration of research with policy, clinical, and public health practice, and will contribute to building capacity in Canada to undertake interdisciplinary research on viral zoonotic infections of domestic or global origins, including by providing training and mentorship to the next generation of researchers.

Application Details: CIHR Team Grant proposals will be evaluated as a single, integrated entity. While each research component included in the application must be meritorious, it is critical to demonstrate that the CIHR Team Grant brings added value, in terms of the approach to improving the health of Canadians or strengthening the Canadian health care system.INDIRECT COSTS ARE NOT APPLICABLE
