In general, team grants support expert teams of talented and experienced researchers carrying out high-quality research on important health issues best addressed through a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach. These teams provide superior research training and mentorship environments, and support the production of new knowledge and the translation of research findings into improved health and health care.

The objectives of the Team Grants in Diabetes Mechanisms and Translational Solutions are: To elucidate previously undefined mechanisms that control the onset and progression of all types of diabetes mellitus and related complications and co-morbidities, with appropriate consideration of sex as a biological variable and gender as a social determinant of health. To develop new translational solutions aimed at prevention, treatment, and delivery of care for people living with diabetes.
