In general, team grants support expert teams of talented and experienced researchers carrying out high-quality research on important health issues best addressed through a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach. These teams provide superior research training and mentorship environments, and support the production of new knowledge and the translation of research findings into improved health and health care.

The Human Immunology Research Teams are expected to: Generate new scientific knowledge that will advance our understanding of human immunology as it relates to autoimmune diseases, with appropriate consideration of sex-related mechanisms, in order to improve the health of Canadians living with autoimmune diseases. Leverage the Standardization Core by encouraging collaboration with the Core and utilization of the Core?s research methodologies where possible. Develop and strengthen research capacity by providing training opportunities to the next generation of human immunology researchers in the field of autoimmune diseases.

Application Details:

CIHR Team Grant proposals will be evaluated as a single, integrated entity. While each research component included in the application must be meritorious, it is critical to demonstrate that the CIHR Team Grant brings added value, in terms of the approach to improving the health of Canadians or strengthening the Canadian health care system.
