The primary aim of this Award is to provide salary support for an outstanding mid-career clinician-researcher whose interests align with PSI?s funding priorities.
The PSI-50 Mid-Career Clinical Research Award acknowledges that mid-career can be a challenging time for scientists. During this phase, there are often additional academic roles and responsibilities including committee work, leadership positions, and mentoring of junior investigators, while clinical work continues. Some funding agencies including the NIH acknowledge that few directed mid-career awards and grants exist to support this phase of an investigator's trajectory. This program offers two options for a funding timeline for salary support:
A maximum of $100,000 per year for three consecutive years; OR A maximum of $75,000 per year for four consecutive years.
50% matching from the sponsoring institution is required. (e.g. medical school support equivalent to $50,000 for 3 consecutive years, or $37,500 for 4 consecutive years) |

Application Details: |
The candidate for the Award must be:Between five (5) and fifteen (15) years of their first academic appointment from one of the six medical universities in Ontario (with stop-the-clock provision for parental or other leave); A practising physician having direct patient care responsibilities and an academic appointment, thus eligible to apply for her/his own research grants as an independent investigator; Dedicate at least 50% of a full-time schedule to the Award All applications must be submitted through the appropriate medical university, which will forward a maximum of three (3) candidates to the Foundation for consideration. To be eligible for consideration, applications must contain all requested information in full, including the required signatures on the paper copy.
