Funding for this grant is provided to Western University by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) through its Institutional Grants program. Research Western, on behalf of the VP Research, determines the number of competitions, establishes deadlines for competitions, and sets application procedures. Research Western also oversees and facilitates the competitions. Eligible researchers may apply for both grants; however only one grant can be awarded per researcher (i.e. a researcher cannot be awarded both an Internal Research Grant and an Internal Travel Grant). If a researcher decides to apply for both grants, the review committee reserves the right to decide which grant (if any) will be awarded to that researcher. |

Application Details: |
Research Grants will support social sciences and humanities researchers with modest research funding requirements at any stage of career; allow for small-scale innovation and experimentation by providing funding to develop a research project or conduct pilot work; and enable researchers to hire students at any level to participate in their research projects thereby contributing to their professional development.All applications require: The submission of a ROLA proposal that is: Complete (i.e., all relevant fields are populated); Consistent with the application form; Approved by all relevant parties through the ROLA proposal system; As well as: The submission (through email) of the Research Grant or Travel Grant application form that is: Complete, Consistent with the ROLA proposal, Signed by those parties indicated on the signature page. |

NOTE: All Letters of Intent and Full Applications must be processed through Research Development & Services for institutional approval. Requests for Institutional approvals should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline. A ROLA Proposal (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean electronic approvals) is required for each submission. |
