Description:

Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada is a national, not-for-profit organization dedicated to reaching every Canadian affected by a brain tumour through support, education, information, and research. The program supports scientific investigations being conducted in Canada into the cause, behaviour and treatment of brain tumours. Investigations focused on the mechanisms of brain tumour generation and growth, novel treatments, and on quality of life are of great interest. However, any proposal of scientific merit will be considered.

Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada is seeking outstanding researchers conducting quality brain tumour research. All such proposals will be given serious consideration, including pediatric brain tumour research. Additionally, we are interested in receiving innovative research proposals: those that incorporate novel or original concepts that have the potential to make a difference

Application Details: Applications will be considered for Basic or Translational Research. All research areas will be given serious consideration. Basic Research: In this context, 'Basic' research involves the development of new concepts (eg. signaling pathways using an in vitro model). Basic science research is meant to increase our scientific knowledge base, with the intent of bettering our understanding of the cause and progression of brain tumours. Translational Research: In this context, 'Translational? is defined as pre-clinical research evaluating the therapeutic potential of recent discoveries in the basic mechanisms of either brain tumour pathogenesis or experimental therapeutics. Human studies are excluded.Grant applications must be postmarked by June 21, 2019. The selection process and approval will take place shortly after and the results will be communicated to all applicants by end of August 2019.
